By definition, thewordgracemeans “unmerited, unearned, undeservedfavor.” Therefore, the good news is, grace has nothingto do with you. Grace existed before you ever came tobe. Another way of saying it is, grace is God’s part.Faithis defined as being a positive response to whatGod has already provided by grace. In other words, faithis your positive response to God’s grace, or faith onlyappropriates what God has already provided for you bygrace. Therefore, faith is your part. You must balancegrace with faith to see the power of God operate in yourlife. If God has already provided something by grace, then you can respond in faith and receive that provision. It’s important to understand that faith onlyappropriates what grace has provided. It can’t forcetGrace & Faithby Andrew WommackGod to do anything. Many wrongly believe that itcan, because they misunderstand scriptures like Mark11:23-24:“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shallsay unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and bethou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in hisheart, but shall believe that those things which hesaith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever hesaith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever yedesire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, andye shall have them.”“What things soever ye desire”is the key. Desires mustbe in agreement with what God’s grace has providedand what His Word teaches. For example, you maydesire to win the lottery, but God’s grace didn’t makeLiving in theBalance ofThe body of Christ as a whole is divided into two camps: those who emphasizethe grace of God to the exclusion of faith and those who emphasize faith to theexclusion of grace. Emphasizing one without the other is like driving a car downa narrow road unaware there’s a ditch on each side. It doesn’t really matterwhich ditch you end up in; you still won’t reach your destination.Fall & Winter 20115
